Sadly Cameron Duncan succumbed to this evil disease on 12 November 2003 while undergoing treatment in Houston, Texas. He was only 17 years old. An inspiration to all who knew him and those who knew of him. Cameron was wise beyond his years, incredibly gifted; he continued achieving goals in the face of this Cancerous adversity. Cameron leaves behind his legacy in his DVD/Video release of Strike Zone which he completed in Houston, Texas in the last days of his life. Strike Zone the DVD/Video features his finest works - DFK6498, Organ Donors, Strike Zone & the night it premiered 15 September 2003 in Auckland. Cameron caught the attention of award winning film-maker, Peter Jackson & his wife, Fran Walsh, with whom he became close friends. Cameron’s movie, Strike Zone inspired the lyrics to Return of the King theme song Into the West which in 2004 won the Golden Globe Award, Oscar and Grammy (2005) for Best Song in a Motion Picture, all awards being dedicated to Cameron‘s memory. In December 2004, The Ext DVD of Return of the King was released with a dedication to Cameron Duncan, his remarkable 17 years of life, his achievements and his movies in Appendices VI.

To mark what would have been Cameron’s “19th” birthday, Waitakere City Council Mayor Bob Harvey, officially named
the Cameron Duncan Studio in Henderson Valley Road, Waitakere, Auckland.
