How Cameron touched my life  / AARON DEREGO (NONE)

To Cameron and his family...

You don't know me, but I feel as if I know you.  I, like many other people saw all that stuff that Peter Jackson added to the LOTR: Return of the King extended DVD and I was so moved by your story of perseverance and optimism in the face of a terminal illness that you have inspired me to try and find my own inner strength.  Not to mention that amazing short film DFK6498, there is a deep wisdom there that not many 17 year olds have.  Well, aloha from Hawaii, take care Cameron, and thank you.

Why you had to die?  / Paul Steppacher (Inspired by his films )
I saw your Films just a few days ago for the first time(on the LOTR spacial dvd) and that was one of the most inspiring moments in my whole life. It´s really a shame that you had to die and many murderers live. Cancer is an evil disease and it´s a tragedy that you lost the fight. But I think you will never be forgotten. RIP Cameron Duncan I come from Germany, and even here some people know your films,so you reached more in 17 years then the most people reaches in their lives.Sorry if my english is bad. Close

I too am a stranger and I am not a film maker either. But I watched the special feature on Return Of The King about Cameron and I was deeply touched. I too have been touched by the tragedy of this dreadful illness and I found Cameron to be such an inspiration and a truly talented young lad. My heart goes out to you across the sea from Scotland. I was reading Peter Jacksons biography and came across Cameron Duncans name. I checked out his movies online and was very impressed. I too am a filmmaker and have been humbled by what is clearly a strong and brave man.

Life is about perspective and sometimes the smallest things can get on top of you, but to always think of such an impressive figure as Cameron and what he went through and what he achieved, thats a perspective you can't ignore.

Through his filmmaking talent he will never be forgotten and will provide an inspiration to thousands of people around the world.

I live and work in the UK and will be teaching filmmaking to hard to reach young kids in a few weeks. I always show examples of short films, and will now show Camerons films to inspire them.

Such powerful work can never be forgotten and I personally can only be grateful to have found out about such an inspiration.

R.I.P Camerton Duncan.

I'm a stranger to Cameron but he has made a big effect on my life. When i watched Return of the King special features I was suprised when I saw his movies. He was so talented at softball and as a filmmaker. I understand what he felt with softball as I do with American Football. I wish we all were as brave as him. He did great things even when he was sick. Thank you for the website and for the chance to understand his great life. In my eyes he is a hero a truly great guy. I wish I would have met him. Close

Dear Sharon

I'm a stranger but an admirer of your son, his story and his work.

I am 1 year older then your son and i make films as he did.
Films are difficult and life changing expierences to undertake. But to think that cam fought so hard to make his films, while he had this evil disease seems almost impossible, where did he find the streanth.

I have and will work so much harder knowing what he did to get through and complete his films while he had cancer.
He is a fighter, and i hope to have a spirit like his.

I think Michael J.Fox said "Pain is temporary, film is forever".
I will do my best to see that he is remembered. And hopefully his films do life forever.

Cam inspired me so and alowed me to get through a painfull time in my post production when i thought everything was lost.
With your permission i would like to include him in the credits.

Warm Regards

Admirer

5 years Cam ... we miss you xx  / Sharon Duncan (mum)

Five years Cam, who'd have thought it?
how quickly time has passed
Five years since you were taken
the years have gone so fast

Yet I still hurt so deeply
alone at night I cry
and search the nightsky for you
incase you're passing by
I call out to the Heavens
hoping God will ease my pain
my greatest wish of all Cam
is to have you here again.

Cos it's so hard without you
all the dreams I had for you
were shattered and smashed to pieces
now I don't know what to do

But I'm putting in the effort
and doing all I can
to build a world without you
though it seems so much in vain

I hope at times you're watching
and you approve of what you see
I'm doing my very best Cam
to make you proud of me

I long for our reunion
and drift thru life til then
nothing dulls my yearning
for the day we meet again.

I hope you're safe and happy
in your heavenly world above
Just know that you are missed Cam
We send you all our love.

The Cameron Duncan Memorial Tournament  / Sharon Duncan (mum)
In 4 weeks time the Cameron Duncan Memorial Under 17s tournament will be played over the weekend
28 - 30 November 2008 at Waitakere Bears Softball Club, Glen Road, Ranui, West Auckland.

Competing Under 17 Auckland boys teams will battle it out for a place in the final together with feature matches between CANTEEN (the teenage Cancer support group) and a celebrity team which I would like to see made up of Cameron's old team mates.

Those who played with him in his final year of softball (players from the Bears, Auckland and Southland).

If you are one of those guys, register your interest by email to http://shazcool@xtra.co.nz
